The combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming during October was $496,585,461, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported Wednesday.
The total represented an increase of 2.81% compared to revenue generated in October 2023.
Slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs) are sources of gaming revenue regulated by the PGCB. Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $209,157,522.
October’s revenue from retail slot machines was $200,625,182, a 4.21% increase in revenue over the $192,519,568 generated at this time last year. Tax revenue from slot machines in October 2024 was $101,088,035.
The revenue for retail table games for October 2024 was $73,900,826, a decrease of 9.28% from the October 2023 revenue of $81,458,654. Total tax revenue from table games play during October 2024 was $12,288,059.
Internet Casino-Type Gaming (iGaming) offered online generated monthly gross revenue totaling $189,027,924 during October 2024, an increase of 22.10% over the $154,818,943 in October 2023. Tax revenue generated from iGaming during October 2024 was $83,762,432.
October 2024 total sports wagering handle was $858,148,994, 3.52% above the October 2023 total of $829,002,595. The taxable revenue figure for October 2024 was $27,373,043, or 43.15% lower than the October 2023 taxable revenue of $48,150,055. Tax revenue generated from sports wagering during October 2024 was $9,854,295.
Total adjusted revenue for October 2024 for VGTs was $3,556,562, a 4.42% increase over the October 2023 revenue of $3,406,170. By the end of October 2024, all VGT Operators offered the maximum permitted five machines at each of the 74 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at each of the 71 establishments at this time last year. Tax revenue collected from the play of VGTs in October 2024 was $1,849,412.
Fantasy contests revenue in October 2024 was $2,101,924, a decrease of 20.77% over the October 2023 revenue of $2,652,804. Tax revenue collected from fantasy contests in October 2024 was $315,289.
The PGCB oversees all aspects of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and VGTs at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests.
