Pa. casinos post record revenue in March
Led by a big boost in table games revenue in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania casinos posted an all-time monthly high last month with $309.1 million in total gaming revenue.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board said statewide table games revenue rose to $82.5 million in March, up about 4.3 percent for the year. The Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem was a big reason for the jump with $23.2 million in table games revenue, up from $18.9 million last year, a nearly 23 percent increase.
The board said Sands expanded to 252 tables from 249 last year. Sands officials were not immediately available for comment on what else may have contributed to the revenue growth.
Valley Forge Casino Resort in Montgomery County also saw table games revenue increase by more than 14 percent. The casino’s tables generated $3.8 million compared with $3.3 million last March.
Combined with slots revenue, total gaming revenue at the 12 casinos was up about 2.9 percent from March 2018, the board said.
Valley Forge led the way with a 13.6 percent increase over last year. Gaming revenue at Valley Forge totaled nearly $13.2 million compared with about $11.6 million last year.
Parx Casino in Bucks County, meanwhile, was the top producing casino with about $56.8 million in revenue last month, up about 4 percent from last year. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Dauphin County finished March with $24 million in total revenue, up about 1.4 percent from last year.
