Lidl opens new store in Paxton Towne Centre
Lidl held a grand opening of its newest store in Dauphin County on Wednesday.
The new store in Paxton Towne Centre, 5125 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, joins the grocery chain’s stores in York, Lancaster and Reading.
“At Lidl, we are committed to bringing fresh, high-quality food to communities at affordable prices,” said Or Raitses, Lidl’s senior director of Real Estate for the North Region, in a release. “We are excited to open our doors in Harrisburg and look forward to serving customers in the area.”
This Lidl store will create approximately 20 new jobs, he said. A 2024 Top Employer, Lidl provides comprehensive benefits, including health care for all full-and-part-time positions, regardless of hours worked per week. Starting pay for all store associates will be $16 per hour.
To celebrate the opening, Lidl said it will donate to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Lidl will donate $1 to the organization for each shopper who signs up for the myLidl app and sets Harrisburg as their store throughout opening weekend.
The store will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards and Food & Wine Magazine have repeatedly ranked Lidl among the top grocers in the country, it said.
Lidl operates more than 12,000 stores and is active in 32 countries, employing more than 360,000 employees globally. Lidl offers customers fresh produce, meat, bakery items and a wide array of household products at low prices.
Lidl first established its U.S. headquarters in Arlington County, Virginia, in June 2015, and has more than 170 stores across nine east coast states and Washington, D.C.
