Lebanon County home sales up 20 percent in September, down 19 percent in Q3
September sales totaled 108, which was up 20 percent compared to the same month a year ago. However, third-quarter sales totaled 306, a 19 percent decline over last year, according to the Lebanon County Association of Realtors.
The median sale price was $147,250 in September — well off last year’s median of $174,500 for the month.
For the quarter, the median sale price was down 5 percent to $149,950, according to the association. For the year, the median was $143,500 through September. That is off 9 percent from the first nine months of 2013.
The association, which uses data from the Keystone MLS Network Inc., also reported a 5 percent dip in new listings, to 615 in the third quarter. Homes for sale decreased 2.7 percent, to 1,137, while days on market was up 12 percent, to 94 days.
“The departure of investors from the scene should benefit first-time homebuyers, but student debt and sluggish wage growth have slowed that transition,” the third-quarter report said.
