Hand named CEO of York Water Company, Wheeler moves to COO

Joseph T. “JT” Hand has been promoted from COO to CEO of The York Water Co., taking over for 12-year president and CEO Jeffrey Hines, who recently announced his retirement, according to company officials.
“JT’s integrity, competence and leadership have been instrumental in York Water’s growth,” said George Hodges, chairman of the York Water Co. board. “JT has been responsible for 20 acquisitions while at the same time insuring our water supply is prepared for the next 200 years of service to our growing community.”
Hand has served as the company’s COO since 2008, and officials said former Chief Administrative Officer Mark A. Wheeler will assume Hand’s former position. Wheeler has served as Chief Administrative Officer since September 2019.
“Mark is a proven business leader and innovator with a diverse portfolio of operational experience,” Hand said. “His analytical and operational skillsets are superb and align well with leader York Water’s operations in this complex utility environment.”
