Dempsey is currently a board member of G&S Foods and has taken over the CEO position from Ed Good, who will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors.
Dempsey is no stranger to the York County snack industry. He began his snack food career with Hanover-based Utz Quality Foods Inc. in 1988 as vice president of sales and marketing. He was promoted to president in 2008 and served in that capacity for six years until he became president and CEO of Arlington, Virginia-based SNAC International, an international snack trade association.
“Tom has spent 30 years cultivating strong industry relationships which will be a tremendous asset for expanding our customer base,” said Tricia Warehime, board chairperson and the widow of late Snyder’s-Lance Chairman Michael Warehime. The company was sold to New Jersey-based Campbell Soup Co. for $6 billion in 2018.
G&S Foods LLC was established in 1996 in York County and is a co-packer and private-label manufacturer of salty snacks. The company purchased Tastysnack Quality Foods in 1999 and moved to its current location in Abbottstown.
In May 2018, Tricia Warehime and other former owners of Snyder’s-Lance founded MAW Acquisitions LP and purchased G&S Foods for an undisclosed amount.
