Federal court acts against Harrisburg Popeyes franchisee, management

The owner of a Popeyes franchise restaurant in and its district manager have been issued a preliminary injunction by a federal court from threatening workers, harassing federal investigators, and obstructing an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division. 

Possible  violations by , owner of at 4601 in Harrisburg, prompted action by the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of . Possible violations include intimidating employees and harassing federal investigators during investigation of the restaurant.

Wage and Hour Division District Director said in a statement that the actions and demeanor of the restaurant’s management in March and April 2023, raised concerns among investigators about their physical safety and job security. 

“Despite the prohibited conduct of the restaurant’s general manager and the franchise’s district manager, the Wage and Hour Division will not be stopped from completing its investigation,” Gristina said. 

The court’s order temporarily forbids Jonestown Rd Chicken LLC and the restaurant’s management from violating the FLSA’s anti-retaliation provisions and from further harassing and threatening workers and division investigators. The order also requires that the employer notifies their employees of their rights to freely speak with investigators and cooperate with the division’s investigation.
