Downtown Inc awards celebrate businesses, leaders shaping York

Sponsored by The Glatfelter Agency, the awards are an annual celebration recognizing the people, businesses, and organizations that make a lasting difference in Downtown York. Nominations are open and will remain open through June 19. Downtown Inc encourages the community to recognize individuals, projects and organizations that put Downtown York first.
“The vibrancy of Downtown York doesn’t happen by accident,” Downtown Inc Director Sarah O’Brien said in a statement. “It happens because of passionate business owners, creatives, volunteers, investors, advocates, and community champions who continue showing up, believing in this place, and pushing it forward every single day.”
The awards ceremony will be held Aug. 13, from 6 PM – 8 PM at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts on 50 N. George St.
Award categories include the following:
- Downtown Revitalization Award
- Historically Edgy Destination Award
- Downtown Champion
- Flavors of Downtown
- Cultural Catalyst
- Collaborative Impact Award
- Small Business, Big Impact Award
- Better York Appell Beautification Award
Winners in each category will be announced live during the awards ceremony.
According to a release, Downtown First Awards serve as a platform to honor those who contribute to making Downtown York a vibrant and thriving destination. From entrepreneurs and small businesses to community leaders and creative partners, these nominees represent the passion and dedication that define York’s downtown.
“The Downtown First Awards are our opportunity to celebrate the people and organizations helping shape the energy, authenticity, and momentum that make Downtown York such a special place,” said O’Brien. “Downtown Inc invites residents, visitors, businesses and supporters to submit nominations and celebrate the people and places making a meaningful impact in Downtown York every day.”
