Dog care center opening in Harrisburg

• The Dog Stop opens ninth Pennsylvania location in Harrisburg

• Grand opening event set for Aug. 16 with food, games, and giveaways

A one-stop-shop for dog care is expanding in Pennsylvania with a new opening set for Harrisburg in July.

According to a release, The Dog Stop, is an all-inclusive and award-winning dog care brand founded in 2009 and franchising since 2013.

Located at 4211 E. Park Circle, the 8,000-square-foot facility, with an additional 2,100-square-feet outside, is set to open in early July. The new location will be the brand’s ninth in Pennsylvania. A grand opening celebration will take place on Aug. 16, featuring food trucks, a ribbon cutting ceremony with the local chamber of commerce, kid-friendly games, and goodie bags for dogs.

The franchise is owned by the husband-and-wide team of hospitality veterans David and Shawn Kohn. Per the release, David is a hospitality professional with more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant and casino industries. He began his career with Caesars in Atlantic City before moving into full-service restaurants such as Glory Days Grill.

Shawn has worked in human resources in the gaming industry for 17 years.

“I’ve always wanted to work for myself, and I knew I wanted to be part of something emerging that had strong values and leadership,” David said in a statement. “Shawn and I instantly connected with the mission of The Dog Stop. Her vision and our passion for animals made this an easy decision for both of us. We’re excited to bring high-quality pet care to Harrisburg and build something meaningful, together.”

The one-stop-shop model includes holistic retail, luxury boarding accommodations, an interactive and social daycare experience, spa-like grooming, and more.
