Angus Antiques, an Adamstown, Lancaster County landmark known for high end antiques, is closing June 30, but plans to make room for new businesses in its space.
“We took over the complex in some very difficult circumstances and have invested in the complex to make it sustainable over the long-term,” said Jon Fry, co-owner of IronSpire, the complex that housed Angus Antiques. “We scaled down the mall in square footage due to lack of foot traffic to minimize the cost to the dealers as much as we could.”
Fry said, “While we’ll miss our community of quality antique dealers, with rising costs it has made it difficult on the complex and dealers.”
Fry and his partner, Steve Rapp, said the antiques operation is the only business closing at the IronSpire Complex.
In addition to the current on-site businesses – Columbia Kettle Works, Tiffany’s Bridal Boutique, Integrity Design Kitchen + Bath, Youphoria – Hair, Skin, Body, and Keystone Construction & Agricultural found in IronSpire Shoppes; and Philly Fair Trade Roasters, Welcome Home Thrift & More, Styles Underground Hair Salon and Bargain Bosses found in Tower Shoppes; a coffee shop/deli with a drive-thru is slated to open in 2025.
There will be space available for six new businesses/shoppes, Fry said.
“We see a lot of potential for new employment opportunities for the Adamstown community and appreciate their support as well as that of the borough during this transition,” Fry said. “The closing of Angus Antiques is bittersweet, but we are looking forward to the growth and opportunities this next chapter will bring.”
