Moon Dancer Vineyards & Winery Inc. announced today that it will be forced to close its doors temporarily due to a court order, starting next week.
The winery in Wrightsville, York County, which just celebrated its 20th anniversary on May 25, will remain open for business this weekend. Following the close of business on Sunday, Moon Dancer will temporarily close.
“While we are heartbroken to have to close our doors for any period of time, we simply don’t have a choice,” said Jim Miller, owner of Moon Dancer Winery, in a release. “We are very grateful for the support of everyone who has been able to share our beautiful dream on the Susquehanna River hills over the past 20 years and encourage everyone to come out to Moon Dancer this weekend before our temporary closure.”
The winery has been forced to close temporarily due to a court order stemming from a legal dispute regarding the use of the winery’s picturesque farm property on Klines Run Road overlooking the Susquehanna River.
“We are very proud of our efforts to preserve 50 acres of pristine agricultural land by creating a truly one-of-a-kind winery experience,” Miller said. “The support we’ve had since we opened our doors in 2004 has been steadfast, allowing us to continue to expand our Limited Farm Winery operations for the enjoyment of our growing number of loyal customers.”
The court order requires Moon Dancer to suspend operations on its agriculturally zoned property following the close of business on June 9. Moon Dancer is seeking permission from the court to reopen as soon as possible, with a goal of remaining in operation while litigation continues.
“We are hopeful to resolve this legal matter quickly so that we may reopen as soon as possible,” Miller said. “Closing for even one day is incredibly painful for us. We appreciate our customers’ support and understanding during this difficult time.”
