Moon Dancer Winery in Wrightsville is reopening Friday following a court order temporarily staying a previous ruling that forced the winery to close on June 10.
York County Court Judge Clyde Vedder issued on Tuesday a court order granting Moon Dancer’s request to rescind the May 20 court order that closed the winery while the court reconsiders the case. The new ruling allows Moon Dancer Winery to reopen on Friday while litigation continues.
“We are incredibly grateful for the ruling and the opportunity to continue to do what we love most in this world – making and serving delicious wines and ciders for our loyal friends and neighbors while the litigation continues,” Jim Miller, owner of Moon Dancer Winery, said in a statement.
The legal dispute was brought by a couple who own the neighboring property and focuses on the use of Miller’s agriculturally zoned property on Klines Run Road overlooking the Susquehanna River as a vineyard and winery.
“For two decades, we have been honored to serve this community, and it broke our hearts to have to close our doors,” Miller said Tuesday. “Today, we celebrate not just this second chance to reopen, but we also celebrate the thousands of friends and neighbors who have stood by us and supported us during this difficult time.”
An online petition has been circulated by supporters to stop the closure of Moon Dancer. The petition has collected more than 6,700 signatures and continues to gain signers.
Moon Dancer will reopen for business throughout this weekend with the following schedule:
