Lancaster-based law firm Saxton & Stump is expanding into York.
Saxton & Stump announced the addition of York firm Stock & Leader, effective April 1. According to a release, the expansion enhances both firms’ ability to serve clients with expanded legal capabilities.
“Stock & Leader has an outstanding reputation, and we have great respect for their talented attorneys and long-standing service to both the York community and their clients,” Saxton & Stump CEO James Saxton said in a statement. “We have had this expansion in our strategic plan for some time, and we saw an ideal opportunity to collaborate with a firm that shares our commitment to client service and community engagement. We are honored to have them join our firm.”
Many of Saxton & Stump’s attorneys have practiced in York County for several decades and have existing ties to the York community. With this expansion, Saxton & Stump will grow from 115 attorneys to more than 135 attorneys across nine offices, in addition to the several affiliate companies that provide business and consulting services.
Stock & Leader has been a part of the York legal community since 1952. Stock & Leader attorneys will continue to operate from their current locations.
“We are in a position of strength, having just completed one of our most successful years,” Stock & Leader Managing Partner Ronald Hershner said. “But we recognize that the legal industry is evolving. This opportunity to join Saxton & Stump, with its proven track record of growth and broad resources, allows us to continue innovating for our clients and community.”
The combination at Saxton & Stump is expected to create one of the most comprehensive and largest education practice groups in the state, per the release.
“By combining forces, we can now offer our clients expertise in ERISA, tax, intellectual property, environmental, as well as add depth and breadth to all our existing strong practice groups, including litigation, real estate, and estate administration,” said Hershner.
