Mayor Williams launches $8M Affordable Housing Development Fund
Funding supports safe, quality housing projects in Harrisburg
Open to qualified developers with proven affordable housing records
Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams announced an $8M fund to expand safe, quality, affordable housing in the city, with applications open to qualified developers.
Williams held a press conference at the MLK, Jr. City Government Center atrium in Harrisburg to announce the launch of the city’s 2025 Affordable Housing Development Fund, a one-time $8 million investment designed to expand quality, safe, and affordable housing options in the city.
“We are taking bold action to support the kind of housing development that meets the real needs of our community,” said Williams. “This is about putting resources where they will have the greatest impact—on the people who call Harrisburg home.”
According to a release, the funding initiative underscores the city’s commitment to addressing the affordable housing crisis and ensuring that all residents, regardless of income, have access to secure, dignified living spaces.
Qualified developers who have a proven record of building or expanding affordable housing within Harrisburg are eligible for the Affordable Housing Development Fund. Eligible projects may include new construction, expansion of existing units, or enhancements that align with the city’s housing goals.
An independent committee appointed by the mayor will review and score the applications.
Applications must be received by 5 PM on Sept. 5. Full application guidelines, scoring rubrics, and required documentation are available on the city’s website.
