, -based is expanding into Frostburg and Cumberland, Maryland and West Virginia.

Gemcraft has invested in full-time sales personnel and model homes in Hampshire County and Berkeley Springs, Maryland, with a third model home slated to open this summer in the Lakewood Community in Mineral County, West Virginia.

“We can build from 1,000 square foot homes to 5,000 square foot homes, from the affordable to luxury,” said Bill Luther, owner of Gemcraft Homes. “We can build on lots that we own or are owned by the customer.”

Gemcraft said it is focusing on homeowners who want more value for their money and may have a job in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area (DMV) or Pittsburgh with flexible working conditions.

The company said it also is targeting people who want to take advantage of West Virginia’s natural beauty with a second home on a lake, creek or in the mountains, and people who already own property and want to build a new, quality home.

“These markets have so much to offer from its natural beauty to affordability to their proximity to the DMV and Pittsburgh,” Luther said. “Homeowners can buy a beautiful Gemcraft home on a large piece of property for literally half the price they would pay for a home in the outrageously expensive northern Virginia market.”

The median selling price in northern Virginia this past August jumped 11.6% to $700,000, compared to the prior year, according to the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors.
