Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz target diversity in accounting with two new initiatives

Advisory firm Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz (BSSF) announced two new annual initiatives to support minority students studying accounting.

The two programs, a scholarship and a sponsorship, will give students of all backgrounds an opportunity to become accountants, said Ken Wolfe, president and managing principal of BSSF.

The scholarship, in partnership with the National Association for Black Accountants, seeks to break economic barriers for black students by providing funds to help starts a profession in accounting.

The second initiative is a sponsorship for one Harrisburg-area minority student to attend the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Foundation’s Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop.

“We’re starting these initiatives to address two factors that are disproportionately reducing the accounting profession’s attractiveness to underrepresented groups: lack of exposure to the industry prior to college, and insufficient support,” said Wolfe.

BSSF is a medium-sized advisory firm with offices in Camp Hill, Lancaster and Hanover Pennsylvania and Frederick and Westminster Maryland.
