Currently serving as manager of special events and partnership giving at UPMC Pinnacle Foundation,
Teri Jakob oversees development of special events. As a part-time nurse at Messiah Lifeways, as well, her knowledge and training have been especially helpful during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wearing numerous hats, she has volunteered for extra shifts at the hospital’s COVID testing sites and worked hundreds of additional hours assisting at vaccination clinics. She has worked tireless shifts as a nurse caring for patients and in the COVID units. She has seen and experienced all aspects of COVID and works continually to care for those in the community.
“I’ve swabbed hundreds of people: sick, pre-op, elderly and infants,” said Jakob. “COVID attacks all and I have been able to lend my nursing skills to help vaccinate thousands.”
As an event planner she has earned numerous certifications in post-COVID site management and pandemic safe event design protocols. She continues to make a positive impact on those around her through positivity and encouragement while sharing the lessons she has learned in both the health care and event industries.
Also serving as a liaison for the Pinnacle Health Auxiliary, Jakob assists the organization with its mission to support UPMC Pinnacle hospitals in their endeavors to provide quality health care and health education in Central Pennsylvania.
“My most significant accomplishment has been my ability to marry my health care and event
planning skills,” said Jakob. “As an event planner, I have the logistical knowledge to help establish successful vaccine clinics and, as a nurse, I have the training and skills to perform all areas of administering the vaccine. I am so very proud to have worked in the health care community during
this time, doing my part to move the world forward.”
