Zach Shamberg
President and CEO
Pennsylvania Health Care Association
As president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Health Care Association, a position he’s held since 2019, Zach Shamberg is the chief advocate and spokesperson for long-term care providers, workers and residents throughout Pennsylvania. “PHCA represents more than 450 long-term care facilities and communities, including many in central Pennsylvania, and it has been our honor to fight for support, resources and the prioritization of the vulnerable population we serve,” he said. “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, PHCA served as the conduit between the front lines of care and those in the Wolf administration and state Legislature.”
Shamberg explained that long-term care has been at the forefront of the pandemic since March 2020, “and it has forced many owners, operators and providers to the brink; in fact, Pennsylvania has experienced a number of facility closures throughout the past two years. In 2022, PHCA led the charge to secure a much-needed Medicaid reimbursement increase in the 2022-23 state budget, ensuring the sustainability of many nursing homes, personal care homes and assisted living communities in the central Pennsylvania region.”
