Yorktowne Hotel sheriff’s sale delayed again

The sale of the Yorktowne Hotel in downtown York has been delayed again, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office website.

The new auction date is June 13, according to the office.

The historic hotel at 48 E. Market St. had been listed for possible auctioning at a sheriff’s sale Monday. It was originally expected to go up for sale in February before being delayed until this month, according to sheriff’s office records.

Its owners, York Hotel Group, defaulted on debt in October 2009, according to court documents filed by debt holder PNC Bank. York Hotel Group comprises owners Prashant Patel, Anil Patel and Kaushik Talati, according to court documents.

The York business and civic community has rallied around the site and called on businesses across the region to consider the Yorktowne for events and housing clients.
