York-based mobile billboard company Do It Outdoors Media acquired one of its competitors, Streetblimps, a West Babylon, New York-based company, for an undisclosed price.

The acquisition is expected to position Do It Outdoors as a leader in mobile billboard advertising across the country, according to a company statement.

“Streetblimps has always been recognized as the other credible leader in our industry,” said Regis Maher, co-founder of Do It Outdoors Media. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to expand our business through this acquisition and to leverage [Streetblimps’ CEO Doug Frantin’s] industry knowledge to expand our out-of-home solutions with stenciling, street decals and projection media.”

Do It Outdoors’ clients will be adding Streetblimps’ clients to its portfolio of businesses, which already  includes national brands such as Pepsi, HBO, Supercuts and Adidas.

The company recently invested $5 million in its mobile billboard fleet and launched shadowfencing, an advertising strategy that uses GPS coordinates to send advertisements to nearby phones.
