York’s Bailey Coach joining Trailways

Move should allow greater business opportunities, its president says

The president of Bailey Coach Inc. of York was referring to his company’s decision to become one of 67 franchise affiliates of Trailways Transportation System Inc.

Bailey said Monday his company’s name will be changing to Bailey Trailways, but said the move should otherwise make “zero difference” for him or his 55 employees.

He will remain in charge of operations at his South Fayette Street facility, but said the move will allow him greater business and revenue opportunities as a part of the Trailways network.

Bailey’s business transports 90,000 people annually throughout the U.S. and Canada. It operates a 26-vehicle fleet including 55-, 47- and 26-passenger motor coaches, deluxe sedans, vans and a sport utility vehicle, a news release from Trailways noted.

Trailways, founded in 1936, now has 67 independently-owned or managed bus and motor coach companies across North America and parts of Europe. Its drivers operate more than 12,000 passenger transportation vehicles.

Bailey also serves as vice president of Travel Time Travel Agency, which has locations in Lancaster and York and serves primarily business clients.
