York snack-food entrepreneur takes new job

Emily Thurlow//August 27, 2018

Lanphier is leaving Sarah’s Sweet & Savory Snacks, formerly known as Nuts About Granola LLC, to join York-based candy co-manufacturer Wolfgang Confectioners.

She will be director of customer commercialization, focusing on sales and client management of Wolfgang’s emerging brands segment.

Lanphier’s mother, Gayle Lanphier, will continue running Sarah’s, which recently moved its York storefront and kitchen from 46 W. Philadelphia St., to 9 W. Philadelphia St.

“The food landscape is rapidly changing and I ultimately decided that it was better for me to step away to pursue other ventures,” Sarah Lanphier said.

Lanphier created Sarah’s as a project while she was attending Elizabethtown College with her mother’s help. That project blossomed into a company whose product at one point was available in 30 Target stores throughout Pennsylvania. Though no longer available at Target, Sarah’s Snacks are available in a number of Wegman’s, farmers markets and grocery stores.

“It has been an incredible journey that has taught me a tremendous amount about business, the food industry and life in general. It is my deepest desire to carry my knowledge, passion and skills into the next chapter of my career,” Sarah Lanphier said.

Over the last few years Wolfgang has been reinventing its business model to focus on co-manufacturing – making products for other companies.
