York SCORE held its first Small Business Success Stories breakfast this morning.
The event, at Heritage Hills Golf Resort, was meant to highlight local businesses that have benefited from the expertise offered by the local SCORE chapter, as well as to talk about what the organization does.
“We don’t want to stay the best-kept secret in town,” said Julie Poland, chairwoman of the chapter.
SCORE is a national organization made up of experienced businessmen and -women who offer advice, expertise and guidance to small and struggling businesses. Originally, the group was strictly retiree volunteers, but over its 50 years, it has expanded to include those still in the working world.
Also, Sarah Lanphier, owner of Nuts About Granola LLC in York, spoke about her business and how to overcome obstacles.
