York County storage business expands into Lewistown area

Investment Real Estate Management LLC has purchased Steele’s Storage in Mifflin County.

With this acquisition, the management company, doing business as Moove In Self Storage in York County, adds more than 370 storage units and 51,451 square feet to its now 22 locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.

Those properties are managed by Investment Real Estate Management in Manchester Township, York County.

Expanding the Moove In portfolio into the Lewistown area made perfect sense for us. Our stores are located a few hours from our home office, and this new location is around an hour away,” Dana Sinsheimer, district manager for Investment Real Estate Management LLC, said in a statement.

Steele’s Storage was built in 1984. Currently, the property consists of 11 buildings with traditional drive-up access and interior access storage units on more than six acres, according to a press release.

Land for Moove In’s first storage facility was purchased for $13,200 in Bald Eagle, outside of Tyrone. It opened with 54 storage units in 1997. The Gilliland family founded the company with the double Os to pay homage to their dairy farm roots, having owned and operated Gillibrook Farms, its website notes. That farm life is reflected not only in the company name, but also at Moove In’s storage facilities, which feature gambrel roofs, much like those of a barn, topped with weather vanes with cows.

Moove In expanded into Lancaster County in 2001, into Maryland in 2014, and to New Jersey in 2016.
