Regional accounting and business consulting firm RKL LLP has been named “Outstanding Business of the Year” in York County by the business-development organization Leadership York.

In the last year, RKL employees have given more than 10,000 volunteer hours, supported 250 organizations and collected 12,000 school supply items for local classrooms, Leadership York officials said Friday in announcing the award.

RKL, which in late 2016 announced it was rebranding itself from its former name, Reinsel Kuntz Lesher LLP, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, has five locations in Central Pennsylvania, including a York County office on Concord Road, Springettsbury Township.

The outstanding business award is given to local companies and organizations that encourage community engagement and philanthropy, Leadership York officials said.

Leadership York, founded in 1978, aims to equip individuals to serve the York community in leadership positions.

It has over 3,500 graduates from its six programs, providing leadership to over 250 nonprofit organizations and serving in state and local government.

The organization also announced that Rob Stone, president and CEO of Covenant Insurance Group Inc. of Dover, has been named its “Outstanding Alumnus of the Year” for his community service.

Stone’s service includes roles with Dover Township, Historic York, the York County Stormwater Consortium, Katallasso Family Health Center and the U.S. Air Force.

He is a graduate of Leadership York’s “Executive Connections” class of 2011.
