The store, at 50 E. Fourth Ave. in North York borough, is closing as the family-owned confection company opens a new production facility in Loganville in southern York County. It is seeing more growth in contract manufacturing and private-label sales, Wolfgang said in a Friday news release.

No jobs will be lost because of the closure. Of the store’s three employees, two are retiring and the other one will be transferred into an adjoining company production facility, Laura Graver, Wolfgang’s director of administration and organizational development, said Monday morning.

“With the expansion of both North York and Loganville operations, and the growth of contract manufacturing and private label sales, we’ve made a strategic decision to eliminate direct retail sales that were performed at the shop,” Sam Miller, Wolfgang COO, said in a statement.

The retail business dropped off after the company stopped offering factory tours in 2013. The tours were cut due to increased government requirements related to food safety and confidentiality reasons linked to the growing volume of work Wolfgang handled for other confection manufacturers, the news release added.

The Wolfgang store is open for the remainder of the month from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wolfgang said it will offer deep discounts on all candy and non-candy items throughout December.
