An iconic midstate food manufacturer is more than doubling the size of its factory floor in southern York County.
York-based Wolfgang Confectioners on Monday said it will add 78,000 square feet to its confection manufacturing facility off Interstate 83 in Loganville. The project, which will add up to 30 full-time jobs, will take the size of the overall facility to nearly 140,000 square feet.
Fairview Township-based Centurion Construction is the general contractor on the project, which is expected to wrap up by March 2019. Wolfgang declined to provide specifics on the cost of construction, but officials said it’s a multi-million dollar project.
“The new facility will allow us to expand our manufacturing capabilities at our Loganville location and enhance our ability to be a reliable, capable and innovative co-manufacturing partner,” President Sam Miller said in a statement.
Wolfgang opened the Loganville facility in late 2016. Earlier this year, the company announced a name change to Wolfgang Confectioners from Wolfgang Candy, a move designed to reflect its transition away from fundraising and consumer sales and toward co-manufacturing products for other brands and companies.

Wolfgang also maintains its historic North York location. That facility operates as an incubator facility where Wolfgang partners with clients to perfect new product recipes and commercialize new concepts.
That part of the company also is growing.
In August, Wolfgang hired Sarah Lanphier of Sarah’s Sweet & Savory Snacks, formerly known as Nuts About Granola LLC, to be its director of customer commercialization. Lanphier is focusing on sales and client management of Wolfgang’s emerging brands segment.
The company employs 155 people between North York and Loganville.
