Weis Markets Inc. announced that it plans to spend $80
million on capital expenditures during the next year. That is a 23 percent increase
over the $64.2 million the grocery-store company spent in 2007.

Weis has 19 major projects in various stages of planning,
including three new stores, two replacement stores, nine additions and five
remodels, the company said.
Northumberland County-based Weis operates more than two
dozen stores in Central
Pennsylvania. The company’s stock is traded on the New York Stock
Exchange under the symbol WMK.
