Weis names California supermarket professional to lead midstate stores

Wendy Oliver has more than 35 years of experience

A supermarket industry veteran with three decades of experience on the West Coast will oversee Weis Markets’ midstate locations.

Wendy Oliver, who has been named a regional vice president, will supervise day-to-day operations of 58 stores in central and southeastern Pennsylvania, the Sunbury-based chain announced today.

Oliver reports to David Gose, senior vice president, operations.

With more than 35 years of industry experience working for Lucky Stores, Albertsons and Supervalu in California, Oliver recently worked as vice president of operations for Albertsons’ Southern California Division.

Earlier in her career, Oliver worked as an assistant store manager and a store manager before working as a field specialist, district manager, center store merchandising lead, vice president of fresh merchandising and vice president of operations.

Oliver holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of La Verne in California, and graduated from the University of Southern California Food Industry Management Program.

Her latest post brings Oliver to Weis, a 104-year-old chain that operates 163 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.
