Wegmans sets September opening, Whole Foods opening next week in Lancaster County

Two upscale supermarket chains that will anchor new retail centers in Lancaster County now have opening dates.

Wegmans said Tuesday it will open its new store at The Crossings at Conestoga Creek on Sept. 23. The Crossings is on the corner of Harrisburg Pike and Route 30 in Manheim Township.

Meanwhile, the Whole Foods Market in the Shoppes at Belmont off Fruitville Pike, also in Manheim Township, will open its doors on June 27.

Wegmans Lancaster is a 120,000-square-foot store and will employ 475 people. East Lampeter Township-based High Real Estate Group LLC, a subsidiary of High Companies, is developing the mixed-use Crossings project.

The development will include a 127-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel, along with include 258 luxury apartments and 210,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

At Belmont, the Whole Foods store is about 40,000 square feet and will employ about 120 people.

Other tenants have been opening over the course of the year in the shopping center. The Belmont developer is Lancaster County-based Manbel Devco. Partners include R.J. Waters & Associates and Charter Homes & Neighborhoods, which is building homes at Belmont.

Belmont’s residential piece includes 74 townhomes and 13 single-family homes on about seven acres.

Both development projects have been the works for years. Belmont construction got underway in 2016, while construction at The Crossings started in early 2017.
