Verizon’s cell network remains tops in Harrisburg market

Verizon’s cell phone network remained the strongest in the Harrisburg market, according to a mobile performance survey company.

RootMetrics ranked Verizon first in overall performance in its semiannual report. Verizon has been ranked as the top network in Harrisburg for each of the eight times the survey has been conducted.

AT&T finished second, Sprint third and T-Mobile fourth.

In the latest survey, Verizon placed first in all five of the survey’s categories. It had the highest network speed and data performance, and tied for first with AT&T and Sprint in network reliability, call performance and text performance.

Tests of the networks, conducted between July 11 and July 15, covered much of Dauphin County; Cumberland County from the Susquehanna River to Carlisle; northern York County around Route 15 and Interstate 83; parts of southern Perry County and the Palmyra area in Lebanon County.

RootMetrics is a network monitoring and survey company. It also tests in Lancaster County, but has not released results from that county yet.
