A vacant building that had formerly housed a discount grocery chain has been purchased by Moove In Self Storage for a conversion project.

The York-based self storage company announced its purchase on Wednesday.

Located at 3025 Carlisle Road in Dover, the property occupies 4.16 acres of land. It features 39,876 square feet of space along with two acres of paved parking lot.

Moove In plans to convert the vacant building into temperature controlled self-storage once governmental approvals are obtained. Moove In also plans to construct an additional 58,000 square foot two-story building on the excess parking surface in front of the building. Construction is planned for this year.

“We are excited to develop a site that has been sitting dormant for several years and turn it into a state-of-the-art self-storage facility,” Moove In Vice President of Development & Construction Brian Davis said in a statement. “We will create a spectacular new property for the residents of Dover to be proud of as they drive by.”

Moove In-Shiloh will be the name of the converted property upon completion of once construction. It will be branded by Moove In standards, with a rental office and an on-site property manager.

The acquisition of the Dover property is the latest move for Moove In, which opened in 1998 and has expanded to more than 60 facilities located throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Iowa.
