Univest plans to open its third Lancaster County branch in June, the bank announced Tuesday. The office will be at 4242 Oregon Pike in West Earl Township, near Brownstown.
When it opens, the branch will join Univest’s other recently opened Lancaster County locations: a West Lampeter Township branch that opened last summer, a Strasburg Township branch expected to open next month and a regional office at the Greenfield Corporate Center that opened in spring 2016.
The four sites will employ about 30 people total, including three or four full-time jobs at the new West Earl Township branch.
“While many other banks are choosing to leave this area, we feel communities like Brownstown represent the heart of Main Street America, a niche that Univest has served well for more than 140 years,” said Jennifer Miller, Univest’s vice president and area manager overseeing consumer banking in Lancaster County.
Those other banks include Susquehanna and National Penn banks, both of which were acquired by BB&T over the past two years. Those acquisitions opened the floodgates for other banks to make their mark in the county.
Univest’s newest planned branch will open at a site previously used by PNC Bank, which closed six Lancaster County branches this past fall.
Univest’s Strasburg branch is in another one of those former PNC locations. York County-based PeoplesBank has taken over the other four, which serve retirement communities.
Univest, a subsidiary of Univest Corp. of Pennsylvania, has about $4.2 billion in assets and 50 offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland.
