Early-childhood provider U-Gro Learning Centres Inc. has completed a $6 million expansion project in Derry Township.

In June, the Dauphin County-based daycare and preschool provider opened eight new classrooms as part of a two-story addition at its facility off Route 322. The second piece of that addition — a new training center for teachers and support staff — recently wrapped up.

In total, the construction project added 31,000 square feet to a facility that was originally 16,000 square feet. U-Gro also renovated space in the original part of the building to exclusively serve infants and toddlers.

As part of the project, U-Gro is moving its support staff from a facility in Swatara Township to Derry Township, as well as adding more than 25 new jobs.

U-Gro operates 13 centers in the midstate, with locations in Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties. The company serves more than 1,600 children daily.
