President and CEO
Jonestown Bank & Trust Co.
“I often lean toward a ‘commander’s intent’ leadership style whereby I outline the purpose, desired end state, and give only essential details required for understanding the goal,” said Troy Peters, president and CEO of Jonestown Bank & Trust. “Then I give autonomy to the team to determine the ‘how’ and develop tactics to achieve the objective. This approach has proven successful in growing, challenging, engaging and developing leaders within our organization.”
Peters said he got started in his career as a floating teller during the summer while in college. “I also credit my baseball background (he played for York College) for giving me a great start with connections in the industry.”
In his free time, Peters likes being outside “and doing physical things like swimming, biking, hiking and ATVing. I read a lot for enjoyment. My son and I like to shoot targets and sporting clays. If I have time to myself, my top choice is riding one of my motorcycles. I enjoy trips on the bike and working to increase my skills through training courses and practice. Last fall at the BMW off-road riding school in South Carolina, I broke my arm, and dislocated my shoulder. I am a better participant than spectator.”
