Peters has served 11 years as president and CEO.
He is a strategic leader who aligns people to a vision and then counts on/expects them to execute the bank’s agreed upon strategic tactics while allowing them to bring their own ideas and skills to the solution and achievement of the goal. “People need to feel like they belong to something bigger than their job description and that they can influence the direction of the organization. This has led to people developing their skill sets, solving problems, and growing in their careers,” he said.
Peters started in the banking industry as a part-time, summer, floating teller when he was in college. “In reality, I was always the banker when we played Monopoly growing up, but that wasn’t paid position at the time,” he said.
He likes to be outside. Peters is an avid motorcyclist, and he attends trainings to increase his skill level. He also enjoys reading, weight lifting, bike riding, swimming, and hiking. Peters likes to build things—from wood working projects, where he says his skills are limited, to Lego projects.
