Family bike rides have been a way to spend time together and get out of the house for a little while during the coronavirus pandemic. While families continue to practice social distancing during, they can still celebrate National Bike Month.
Although the campaign usually encourages community events and gatherings, this year the League of American Bicyclists is aiming to keep people active in a responsible, safe way to create connections virtually through #BikesUnite.
Here are some tips you celebrate National Bike Month:
1. Conduct bike and helmet safety checks at home:
– Make sure bike helmet fits well
– Make sure the helmet covers the forehead and always fasten the straps
– Make sure the seat, handlebars and wheels fit tightly
– Check and oil your chain regularly
– Check brakes to make sure they work well and aren’t sticking
– Check tires to be sure they have enough air and the right amount of tire pressure
2. Go for a neighborhood ride with your family.
3. Connect with your friends and neighbors on social media to discuss ideas for improving bike and pedestrian safety.
