Custom awning business G.T. Watts Inc., with more than $1 million in annual gross sales, is on the market.
Bill Rothman, founding partner of RSR Realtors, who is handling the sale, said the current owner of the East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County turnkey business, is retiring and looking for a new owner to continue the business.
“I’m 67 years old and ready to retire,’’ said Bradley Watts, the third-generation owner who started working with his father in the business in 1993 after a 21-year career in the Army, retiring as a first sergeant. “I have a little farmette in Perry County where I raise beef cattle and cut hay, and I’m ready to stay home.’’
Watts said neither of his sons are interested in taking over the business, and he wants to see the company continue to succeed under a new owner.
“Our business is booming,’’ Watts said. “There are not a lot of awning businesses left anymore, and we have a good reputation.’’
G.T. Watts Inc, 108 Altoona Avenue, Enola, has an asking price of $450,000, Rothman said.
“This is a rare opportunity to buy a successful business with a great reputation and solid customer base,’’ Rothman said. “The sale includes all the business’ assets, including the building, vehicles, and manufacturing equipment.’’
G.T. Watts Inc. was founded in 1932 by Guy Theodore (G.T.) Watts, and after passing it down to his son, Ronald, Bradley Watts acquired the business in 2010. Today, the business employs seven people and serves a diverse mix of residential and commercial customers.
