‘The Travel Detective’ comes to York County

A nationally broadcast travel show will highlight some attractions in York County later this month.

Emmy-winning journalist Peter Greenberg and his crew taped an eight-minute “Like a Local” segment in June for his show “The Travel Detective,” which airs on PBS-affiliated stations. The episode featuring York County is scheduled to premiere on Jan. 20 on WTTW in Chicago, with a broader national release to follow.

The local segment of the show offers an insider’s view of a destination, including tips for attractions, dining spots and other places a local might direct a traveler.

The York County segment will feature Harley-Davidson, Sunrise Soap Co., Martin’s Snacks, Bluett Bros. Violins, Revonah Pretzel, Naylor Wine Cellars, Central Market, the York County History Center, the York County Heritage Rail Trail, the Susquehanna Riverlands, Highpoint Scenic Vista and Steam Into History.

The trip was supported by a York County tourism grant. The grant was for $15,000.
