Building on its growth in Lancaster and York counties, Univest Bank and Trust Co. has hired its first commercial lender for Cumberland and Dauphin counties.

Justin Conner has been named vice president and market leader for Cumberland and Dauphin counties for Univest, which is based in Souderton, Montgomery County. He worked most recently as a business loan officer for Members 1st Federal Credit Union, based in Lower Allen Township.

Conner, who lives in the suburbs of Harrisburg, will work out of Univest’s regional headquarters in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County, said Tom Jordan, an executive vice president and market president for Central Pennsylvania with Univest.

The regional office has grown from 16 to 55 employees since opening three years ago, Jordan noted, and has made about $650 million in commercial loans.

“What that told us is clients want what we deliver,” he said, adding that the bank is looking to extend its growth in the counties around Lancaster, including Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin and York counties, with a focus on privately held companies.

“Our real sweet spot, our lane that we travel, is that family-owned business, that family-owned farm,” Jordan said.

The bank hired its first York County lending team this spring.

It recently added Emily Doxzon as a vice president and commercial relationship manager for York County. A resident of Stewartstown, Doxzon worked most recently for PeoplesBank, based in York Township.

New offices could be next for Univest, Jordan said, though he declined to say where.

“We’ve strategically identified several spots, nothing that we can announce,” he said.

Univest Bank and Trust is the chief operating subsidiary of Univest Financial Corp., which has more than $5 billion in assets and a network of more than 50 offices throughout eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.
