Ross Productions, a boutique wedding and event DJ entertainment company, has opened a studio in Lancaster.
The Middletown-based firm opened Obsidian Studios at 2348 Harrisburg Pike on Tuesday, offering a modern, creative photo/video space open to the public.
Tyler Ross, founder and president of Ross Productions, said he wanted a space for local creative people to be able to produce art, photography, videography, anything they need space to complete.
The more than 3,000 square feet of space can be used to create sets for events to show clients what the event will look like on site, he said.
He said his vision is for any creative person to have an outlet to create whatever it is they are setting out to do.
“We have a full photography/videography studio, but we also have space for painters and designers to build whatever they want to build,” he said.
The Harrisburg University of Science and Technology graduate said he started his career as a DJ in 2010 and founded Ross Productions in 2016.
“I focused on boutique weddings and all the production that goes into it,” Ross said. “We build sets and custom furniture for anyone looking for an experience.”
By 2021, Ross found his company growing rapidly and realized he needed a studio instead of the multiple storage facilities he was using in and around Middletown and Lancaster.
“We now have the space to bring the community together,” he said. “It’s like Rock Lititz – a place for locals, just not as big.”
Ross, along with his brother Josh Ross, and cousin Zack Ross, will use the space as well. Ross said they will create multiple sets throughout the year for people to use. They will also train people in audio visual and DJ techniques.
“This is really different from what I imagined in 2016,” he said. “We will even have space to make special effects, even pyrotechnics.”
For his company, the studio will be the place to show what they do. “We will meet with clients here and show what their event will look like on a small scale before we set it up on site.”
Ross is planning a Dec. 17 open house for the public to see what is available and “let their minds explore.”
