The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) issued a new proposal recently on whether workers under the 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) should be classified as employees or independent contractors. 

A federal rule proposal to restrict worker retirement plan investments that address environmental, social or governance (ESG) causes is under scrutiny from asset management firms who say it would place unnecessary burden on financial planners and limit opportunities for their retirement investors. 

1.3 million workers filed first time claims for unemployment insurance last week, the Labor Department said Thursday. That latest round of applications means roughly 50 million Americans have made initial jobless benefits claims in just 16 weeks.

As expected, unemployment claims in Pennsylvania have skyrocketed since the governor began implementing measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.
