
Spring’s arrival brings a host of new activities to Hershey Gardens, in addition to a sea of colorful tulips. A complete list of April and May events is detailed below:

April Sprouts at Hershey Gardens – NEW!
Kids can welcome spring by planting their own seed in a paper “pot” to carry home. Included in admission.

Easter Sunrise Service at Hershey Gardens
Join the Hershey Ministerium for this non-denominational service, which is open to the community. No admission fee prior to 8 a.m. The service includes a sign language interpreter and will be live streamed at www.Fishburnumc.org.

Make a Butterfly Wing Pendant – Adult Education Class – NEW!
Class participants will create a pendant necklace using a portion of an “aged out” butterfly wing. Attendees will also accompany Dan Babbitt, associate director, on a personalized tour of the Butterfly Atrium in the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory. All supplies are provided. Online registration required by Friday, April 14, at HersheyGardens.org. $50; includes all supplies.
Late Spring
20,000 colorful tulips in bloom – Hershey Gardens’ first show of the 2017 season promises to be a colorful array of blooming tulips. New tulip varieties this year include ‘Oranjezon’, ‘Yokohoma’, ‘Yellow Mountain’, ‘Orange Monarch’, ‘Silverado’, ‘Silent Peace’, ‘Doctor An Wang’, ‘Kiss’, ‘Baronesse’, ‘Alfred Heineken’ and ‘Bellflower’. Guided Springtime Walks at Hershey Gardens – NEW!
Created in conjunction with and led by Dr. Raymond Barbehenn, guided springtime walks will lead families on a fun and educational journey throughout Hershey Gardens. Barbehenn is a nationally respected and published research scientist and serves as Associate Research Scientist at the University of Michigan. Guided springtime walks are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather. Included in admission.

Touch a Bug Insect Cart
Visit Hershey Gardens on weekends and explore the fascinating world of insects. Kids will meet some amazing giant bugs, learn where they come from and what makes them unique. Extra adventurous children will be able to touch—or even hold—the insect. At the end of their visit, kids will receive official certification as a Hershey Gardens “Bugologist.” A variety of bugs will be displayed throughout the year, including blue death feigning beetles, tobacco hornworms and eastern lubber grasshoppers. Included in admission.
