CONTEST: Tickets to Day out with Thomas Big Adventures Tour 2018

Thomas the Tank Engine and his best friend Percy return to the Strasburg Rail Road for the family favorite event, Day Out with Thomas: Big Adventures Tour 2018, taking place Sept. 15-23, 2018. And a lucky Central Penn Parent reader will WIN 4 tickets which will include a 20-minute ride Thomas Train ride on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 11:15 a.m.!

This fun-filled event offers little engineers and their families the opportunity to take a ride with Thomas and meet Sir Topham Hatt, Controller of the Railway, plus enjoy all the fun extra railroading activities.

Thomas-themed activities including arts & crafts, storytelling and additional train-themed rides will be available throughout the day and are included with the ticket price. The tour, now in its 23rd year, will make 42 stops across the U.S. and Canada and is expected to welcome nearly one million passengers in 2018.

Hand-roll dark chocolate ganache, dip in chocolate and customize with a selection of toppings. This 45-minute class is suitable for adults and families with children ages 4 and up. The Hershey Story Museum announces 18th annual history contest for young writers

Attention young writers! Aspiring authors are encouraged to participate in the History Contest for Young Writers sponsored by The Hershey Story Museum.

The deadline for submitting entries via The Hershey Story’s website, HersheyStory.org, is Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018.

The contest is open to students in grades five through eight who are enrolled in a public, private or home school in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry or York County.

Eligible students may submit an entry in one of four categories: non-fiction, fiction, poetry or the history of science/health.

Additional guidelines and details, and the online entry form are available at HersheyStory.org under the Students and Teachers tab.  Last year’s winning entries are also included on the website.

Each student who wins first place will receive $100, a family membership to The Hershey Story, tickets to Hersheypark and an honorary plaque. Students who receive second place and honorable mention will also be recognized.

Winning entrants will be notified by Friday, March 23, and first-place winners will be recognized at the Museum’s annual Business Partners in Education Breakfast on Wednesday, April 18, 2018.
