“I lead the fundraising and awareness efforts for Four Diamonds, inspiring, empowering and activating people of all ages to join our fight to conquer childhood cancer,” said Graney, executive director for the past 11 years.
A career highlight was closing her first $1 million gift. “I received my own impactful gift that day, too, when the donor said to me: ‘I’m able to make this gift because I trust you.’ I aspire to remain worthy of such trust.”
Graney passed on four pieces of advice: 1. Love people and use things – not the reverse. 2. Be your own best friend – trust yourself, take care of yourself, and forgive your mistakes. 3. Surround yourself with people who love you and encourage you. 4. Have a belly laugh daily. For fun, “I love to sing, and music and theater have always been part of my life,” she said. “Singing makes me feel free.” Graney also enjoys traveling. She and some friends completed a quest to visit all 50 states before they turned 50, visiting the 50th and final state right before the pandemic started.
