Study: Arts boost business in midstate

Nonprofit arts organizations contribute greatly to the midstate economy, according to the results of a study by Americans for the Arts.

Nonprofit arts organizations contribute greatly to the midstate economy, according to the results of a study by Americans for the Arts. The study, Arts & Economic Prosperity III, examined the economic impact of arts groups in 156 areas nationwide. These areas included the region comprising Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties. According to the study, arts groups in this region help generate:

  • 2,123 full-time equivalent jobs
  • $40.7 million in resident household income
  • $2.9 million in local government tax revenues
  • $4.2 million in state government tax revenues
