Barber has served in his current position at Michael Baker International for 12 years. As the office executive, his role includes ensuring the Harrisburg office of Michael Baker International is delivering the quality, timely, expert services expected by the company’s clients. The office’s work encompasses all facets of infrastructure, including planning, highway and bridge design, land development, construction management, construction inspection, environmental services, toll services, and public engagement expertise throughout Pennsylvania.
He says a challenge and opportunity in the past year has been evolving the office’s staff and business practices to work effectively and efficiently in a hybrid work environment. “We made investments in IT infrastructure and technology to stay connected with our clients and accommodate the virtual workplace. Because no one is travelling to meetings, we can hold more regular client meetings to discuss progress in smaller steps. The meetings are more regular, but much shorter, allowing more collaboration,” Barber said.
