As CEO, Stephen Massini is responsible for setting the strategic direction at Penn State Health, a five-hospital health system in central Pennsylvania, “and ensuring that our people, practices, policies and culture advance our mission to improve health and our vision to be Pennsylvania’s most trusted health care provider,” he said.
In the past year, “health care has been tested in so many ways but what kept me up most at night was ensuring that we were doing the right things to support our workforce emotionally, physically and financially,” he explained. “The heart of health care is the people who work in the profession. Our efforts included keeping our workforce employed, raises and bonuses, open lines of communication, appreciation events, wellness programs, innovative recruitment and DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) endeavors that advance a culture that’s rewarding for everyone.”
