A Georgia-based candy store chain plans to serve up sweets to shoppers at Lancaster County’s Tanger Outlets starting Thursday.
River Street Sweets – Savannah’s Candy Kitchen will join about 30 other stores as part of a recently opened expansion at the East Lampeter Township outlet center. The location will be one of about a dozen stores for the candy store chain, and its first one to open north of the Mason-Dixon line.
The shop specializes in handmade Southern confections, including pralines, chocolate Loggerheads and taffy. The store’s website also advertises sweets like caramel apples, gourmet popcorn and various cakes, pies and pastries.
The Lancaster County franchise location is owned by Jason and Heather Hoffman. Jason Hoffman, a Pennsylvania native, worked for one of the candy store chain’s co-founders in Georgia before returning to his home state to open the new store.
River Street Sweets – Savannah’s Candy Kitchen will open next to Haggar Clothing at the Lancaster County outlet center, joining the likes of H&M, The North Face and other new stores in an expansion Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. debuted last month.
