is a growing healthcare crisis affecting millions of women and men worldwide, per a release. Healthcare costs associated with osteoporosis are high, and patient’s quality of life can be affected.

Approximately 10% of women over the age of 65 have normal bone mass, and 77% of American women with osteoporosis are undiagnosed and untreated. Osteoporosis is treatable once detected and treatable and testing is safe and non-invasive.

The imaging of the provides image quality with advanced diagnostic tools to support early detection and treatment of osteoporosis. The Imaging Department provides a scope of services addressing the physical, emotional, and educational needs of patients.  Every patient receives personalized care designed to meet individual needs.

The DXA scan can be used to assess bone mass density in one visit. Patients experience fast exam times and low-dose x-ray examinations that provide clinical data via the following:

  • BMD Test for Axial (hip and spine) sites. Predict fracture risk and monitor response to treatment through BMD data compared to T-score and Z-scores derived from the NHANES database.
  • Fracture Risk – Instant Vertebral Assessment (IVA). Patients with a previous vertebral fracture are at higher risk for future fractures.  Hologic DXA system can assess fracture risk by combining an accurate measurement of bone density with high-resolution vertebral imaging with a low-dose image in 10 seconds.
